Sophomore Year Mission

My mission this year is to improve on my weaknesses and capitalize on my strengths. I plan to accomplish this through hard work and dedication. Whether it's proofreading work or designing products, I will strive to be precise with my work and never procrastinate.

OnRamp Project

The main event for CIBACS students in their sophomore year is the OnRamp project. We are assigned a business partner from a local business and three classmates to work with. We then spend the next months inventing and designing a product for our business partners. Groups typically compete against three other teams who are all trying to win the product contract from the same business partner.

Mission Statement

At Premium Product Designs, our mission is to research, devise, analyze, and identify the best new products for our customers. Our creative and hardworking team succeeds by learning as much as possible about our customers and the markets in which they operate. Our priorities lie in the success of our customers, and we strive to please our customers in every way.

My team, Premium Product Designs, was assigned to work with the company Simple Green, and Jeff Hyder was our business partner. Simple Green is an eco-friendly cleaning company, that creates a vast range of cleaning products from all-purpose cleaners to outdoor odor eliminators. All of their products are not only great cleaners but are also sustainable and safe for the environment. Simple Green's headquarters is located in Huntington Beach, CA, and is only a few miles from Edison High School. Jeff Hyder held every student and every product he judged to high standards. This motivated students to do their best.

Our product was a concentrated All-Purpose Cleaner in a solid capsule form that conveniently dissolves in water to create the perfect concentration cleaner for a 22 fl oz spray bottle. These capsules are light, small, and eco-friendly. Our reasoning behind the capsules was to save money and the environment by allowing Simple Green to no longer ship water around the country. Because of the water's heavy weight, it is expensive and not fuel-efficient to ship. Each package comes with three cleaning capsules, which allows for further convenience and sustainability by allowing customers to make fewer trips to the store to buy a cleaner. Our package design consists of colorful and attractive logos with basic instructions and safety warnings on the back.

Although we learned many things throughout this project, my favorite was advertisement design. I learned how to use Canva and Pixlr to create an animated ad. In addition, I enjoyed the struggle of learning how to build a website for the first time. I took a strong leadership role throughout this project by encouraging hard work from my teammates and setting good examples in my work. I found that I have a special eye for making appealing Instagram ads, and I played a big part in my team's website and advertisement design. As a leader, I also spent many hours proofreading my team's documents and our website to ensure they were of high quality.
